Erik Schnackenberg is the founder of The Mind and Body Challenge. He has been personal training for 10+ years, a life coach for 2 years and has been hosting challenges since 2001. He is 34 years old and a single father of two wonderful boys. He enjoys an extreme balance of activities including; Racing motorcycles at over 160 MPH, meditating, snow boarding, Yoga, playing hard rock and acoustic guitar, Aikido, running, weight training and more.
Erik grew up in California where, at the age of 17, he developed a love for racing street bikes professionally. And with it, a love for pushing of limits, both physically and mentally."For racing, I physically trained harder than I ever have in my life. With that foundation, I realized anything was possible."
Erik went on to win awards, championships and eventually touring the country professionally before settling down in Colorado in 1999 to raise a family. Now a new husband and father, Erik turned his energy to personal training people for a living and began Tae Kwon Do training. "Martial Arts taught me so much. Mainly that the mind always wants to give up before the body. So you need to push through the limits of the mind." He received his Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do in 2003 and volunteered teaching for many years.
Then in 2007 a series of challenging life events taught Erik that there was more to life than status, awards, accomplishments or material possessions. This began an inward journey. To re-evaluate life's purpose and strategies.
Erik learned that things were out of balance. Things that didn't seem to matter where suddenly all that mattered, and things that he thought mattered seemed insignificant. This began a search for truth in all things. What laws are always in play even when we are not aware of them? This was the birth of the Mind and Body Challenge and "The Principles" for real living. Simple yet powerful universal truths that are here to help us, to guide us and to empower us on our journey. The path to true power, deeper connections, better relationships, and more. "This isn't 'motivational', this is inspirational. Motivation relies on an outside source. Inspiration comes from within and that's what we need in order to truly change and grow."
Currently Erik is a full time personal trainer at Anytime Fitness in Longmont, Colorado. He hosts seasonal seminars on Mind and Body Challenges and enjoys the fact that it is simply euphoric that we are all alive right here, right now.
